Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has once again demanded the cancellation of K-Electric’s licence and an investigation into the power utility.

Speaking to the media, Hafiz Naeem criticised the power company and alleged that there was an “evil nexus” between K-Electric, NEPRA and the government against the people of Karachi.
He alleged that the authorities were failing to provide relief to citizens and were instead adding to their difficulties.
“How can a private company push an entire city into agony, but no one in authority questions it?” Hafiz Naeem said, questioning the government’s oversight of the power utility.
He further alleged that the lack of action suggested that the relevant stakeholders were working together.
Hafiz Naeem also raised concerns over the ongoing water shortage in Karachi, saying that residents were facing difficulties due to inadequate water supply.
“No government is prepared to work for Karachi,” he said.
The JI Karachi chief has previously criticised K-Electric over electricity supply, tariff issues and power outages in the city, while calling for greater accountability of the utility.
His latest remarks come amid continued political debate over Karachi’s electricity and water infrastructure and the role of federal and provincial authorities in addressing the city’s utility-related problems.
