Karachi weather Weather Karachi City

Karachi weather to remain moderate for next three days

The weather is expected to remain moderately cold over the next three days, with fog likely in the mornings in Karachi.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature is forecast to drop by one to two degrees to around 18°C on Saturday.

A westerly wind system is anticipated to enter Balochistan tonight, bringing light rain and drizzle to a few districts, including Qambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Shikarpur on Friday night and Saturday.

Meanwhile, Lahore continues to top the list of Pakistan’s most polluted cities, with air quality index readings ranging from 600 to over 1100.

The average air quality index in Lahore is 622, with areas like Polo Ground Cantt and Shimla Pahari experiencing dangerously high pollution levels.

Earlier this month, Lahore was named the most polluted city in the world, while Karachi ranks fifth, as per the latest Air Quality Index (AQI) data.

Lahore registered a hazardous particulate matter (PM) level of 298, followed by New Delhi at 247, and Karachi at 173, raising significant concerns about public health in Pakistan’s urban centers.

The high PM levels, driven by smog, particularly in winter, have led to a surge in respiratory illnesses and other health issues.

Punjab recorded over 52,000 respiratory cases in a single day, with Lahore contributing more than 3,000.

In response to the worsening air quality, the Punjab government has eased certain restrictions, allowing construction work in Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, and Faisalabad.
