Under the Water Corporation zones reorganization directives, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has implemented an administrative restructuring initiative designed to enhance water supply and drainage services by creating four new operational zones across the city.
Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Karachi Mayor and Water Corporation Chairman, initiated this restructuring project on his personal instructions, seeking to modernize service delivery and enhance operational efficiencies citywide.
According to an official notification, this reorganization aims to align water and sewerage operations with modern urban requirements, improve public convenience, and expedite responses to citizen complaints.

Under the new structure, Muhammad Ali Sheikh has been appointed Chief Engineer for Zone One, covering Malir and Korangi districts, with Muhammad Aslam Awan overseeing Landhi, Korangi, Model Zone and Shah Faisal Town.
The corporation has also assigned Superintendent Engineer Rizwan Ali Khan for Ibrahim Hyderi and Malir, while Javed Bhutto has been given charge of Gadap Town, forming part of Zone One’s administrative adjustments.
For Zone Two, covering East and South districts, Aftab Alam Chandio has been appointed Chief Engineer, with Abdul Ghaffar Sheikh responsible for Chenisar and Jinnah Town and Abdul Haq Sheikh for Gulshan and Safoora sectors.

Lyari Town will be overseen by Muhammad Rahim Palijo, while Anwar Memon has been designated Superintendent Engineer for Saddar and Clifton, completing the operational hierarchy set for Zone Two.
Ghulam Muhammad Wahab has been appointed Chief Engineer for Zone Three, which covers West District and Keamari, with Usman Khaskheli supervising Baldia, Maripur and Mauripur areas.
In the same zone, Abdul Waheed Sheikh has been assigned responsibilities for Orangi, Mominabad and Manghopir, areas that frequently report major water and sewerage complications requiring improved oversight.
Zone Four, covering Central District and Sohrab Goth Town, will be headed by Chief Engineer Shahrukh Hussain, with Abrar Hussain managing Gulberg, Nazimabad and Liaquatabad sectors.
Additional responsibilities in Zone Four include oversight of New Karachi, North Nazimabad and Sohrab Goth Town, which will be managed by Superintendent Engineer Nehal Danish under the updated structure.

CEO Ahmed Ali Siddiqui and COO Engineer Asadullah Khan said the purpose of the new administrative zones is to boost institutional performance and ensure quicker, more efficient service delivery citywide.
Restructuring will bring better coordination among field teams, quicker response times in emergencies, and continuity with both water supply and sewage management at high service standards.
Officials noted that this reform embodies Barrister Murtaza Wahab’s vision by seeking the timely resolution of problems, improved complaint handling, and long-term strengthening of Karachi’s water and sewerage infrastructure.
