The Pakistan vs West Indies Test series gets underway on July 25, with the two sides set to meet in a two-match contest as part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 cycle.

The opening Test will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, while the second and final Test will take place at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
This will be Pakistan’s first Test series in the Caribbean in five years, with the last away series between the two teams taking place in 2021.
The most recent Test meeting between the two sides came last year when West Indies toured Pakistan for a two-match Test series, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
That series proved historic for the visitors, as West Indies secured their first Test win in Pakistan in 34 years and shared the series 1-1.
Pakistan begin a new era under Babar Azam
Pakistan head into the series after suffering a second consecutive Test series defeat against Bangladesh, increasing the pressure on the side following a difficult run in the longest format.

The tour also marks the beginning of a new chapter under Babar Azam, who has been reappointed as Pakistan’s Test captain following Shan Masood’s departure from the role.
Shan led Pakistan in 16 Tests, winning only four during his tenure.
Despite their recent struggles, Pakistan have enjoyed success over West Indies over the past two decades.
They have not lost a Test series against the West Indies since 2000, with their last series victory coming in 2017.
However, Pakistan have not won a Test series since 2024, and their last away Test series triumph came in Sri Lanka in 2023 under the captaincy of Babar Azam.
West Indies, meanwhile, enter the series full of confidence after securing a historic home Test series victory over Sri Lanka, giving them valuable momentum ahead of the contest.
New faces in Pakistan’s squad
Pakistan have rewarded several standout domestic performers by naming four uncapped players in the squad:

- Mohammad Awais Zafar
- Ali Usman
- Mohammad Ghazi Ghori (Wicketkeeper)
Fast-bowling all-rounder Aamir Jamal also returns to the squad.
Pakistan’s bowling attack will have a fresh look, with Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Hasan Ali and Nauman Ali all omitted from the squad for the series.
