With Eid al-Adha approaching, preparations are in full swing at Karachi’s cattle market on the Northern Bypass as the first truck carrying 27 animals from the interior area of Sindh arrived.
The arrival was marked with traditional Dhol and bhangra, creating a joyful atmosphere as traders and visitors celebrated the beginning of animal arrivals.
According to Administrator Shahab Ahmed Khan, comprehensive arrangements have been made this year to facilitate both traders and the public.
“We are ensuring better facilities than previous years,” he said. “Parking fees have been halved to make the visit easier for buyers.”
To support traders, they are allowed to bring their own fodder, and a free medical check-up facility for animals has been set up inside the market.
Each small animal will be provided eight liters of water daily, while large animals will receive 30 liters — all free of cost. Those with animals in the VVIP and VIP blocks are also permitted to bring personal tents.
Meanwhile, tight security measures have been implemented both inside and outside the market to ensure a safe environment for all.
Faisal Brothers CEO – Shahab Ali Khan has been appointed as Administrator of the cattle market 2025.
He stated that contractors for all categories have been selected and work orders have been issued, with ground-leveling already in progress.
According to the administration, this large-scale market will cater to hundreds of thousands of animals and visitors, with dedicated VVIP, VIP, and general blocks for ease of access and services.
The market is expected to officially open for the public between April 20 and 26, and the setup includes complete facilities for water, electricity, security, parking, and veterinary care.
More than 18 categories of tenders have been issued, including for electricity supply, water provision, veterinary services, parking, and branding.
The market aims to welcome 400,000 to 500,000 animals arriving from various parts of Pakistan in the coming days.
