PSX extends rally as KSE-100 gains over 2,100 points

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its upward march on Monday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index closing above the 178,000-point level after gaining 2,105.91 points, or 1.20 percent, to settle at 178,200.02 amid broad-based buying across major sectors.

The benchmark traded in a range of 177,759.88 to 178,985.94 during the session, compared with the previous close of 176,094.11, as investors maintained their buying interest throughout the day.

Trading activity remained healthy, with 255.20 million shares changing hands in KSE-100 index companies, generating a turnover of Rs21.88 billion.

Across the broader market, investors traded 785.36 million shares worth Rs33.14 billion through 359,748 transactions, reflecting sustained market participation.

Market breadth remained firmly positive, with 305 stocks advancing, 152 declining, and 106 closing unchanged out of a total of 563 traded securities.

Among the most actively traded stocks, TSBL led the volume chart with 113.32 million shares, although it slipped Rs0.06 to settle at Rs2.51. TPL Properties (TPLP) followed with 83.71 million shares, gaining Rs1.34 to close at Rs14.71, while Cnergyico PK (CNERGY) rose Rs0.36 to Rs11.10 on trading of 68.96 million shares.

Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) emerged among the top gainers, advancing Rs3.28 to Rs63.42 on a volume of 37.79 million shares. TPL Corp (TPL) also posted a solid performance, rising Rs1.14 to Rs21.47 after 36.47 million shares changed hands.

On the losing side, WASL declined Rs1.00 to close at Rs6.92, while TPLRF1 added Rs0.65 to finish at Rs10.52.

The broad-based gains and positive market breadth underscored renewed investor confidence, enabling the benchmark index to post another strong session and maintain its upward trajectory.
