The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) issued an identity theft alert, warning all citizens to stop sharing personal data with unofficial apps and websites.
Recently, NADRA reported that scammers are tricking users into giving away Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) numbers in return of fake incentives.
These details are then misused for illegal activities. Sadly, several citizens have already fallen victim.
To protect your identity, NADRA advised never to give out CNIC photocopies to unknown individuals.
You should also avoid using ID copies as a form of guarantee. It’s better to show original documents when needed.

Moreover, NADRA urges everyone to use only the official Pak Identity Mobile app for providing sensitive information.
This includes CNIC numbers, biometrics, or any personal data.

Due to a recent data breach affecting over 2.7 million Pakistanis, NADRA has renewed its commitment to cybersecurity.
Additionally, the NADRA identity theft alert encourages everyone to report fake platforms pretending to be the official authority. If a website or app seems suspicious, do not interact with it. Instead, inform NADRA immediately.
Meanwhile, in a positive development, NADRA has made it easier to get Succession Certificates. Now, legal heirs can apply at any of the 186 Succession Facilitation Units (SFUs) across Pakistan.
