The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has launched a crackdown on individuals and groups illegally collecting parking fees across the city.
Acting on Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab’s orders, KMC declared 32 designated parking spots in Karachi free for public use.
In response to citizen complaints, the City Warden Department conducted surprise inspections at multiple locations, including Chase Up, Aladdin Park, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Several individuals were caught charging unauthorized fees and were handed over to police for legal action.
Mayor Wahab emphasized that free and hassle-free parking is a top priority. He directed strict enforcement and warned that anyone misusing public spaces for profit will face consequences.
“We are here to serve Karachi. No one will be allowed to exploit public areas,” he said.
KMC urged citizens to report illegal parking fee collection via its helpline (021 99216095 or mc.kmc@kmc.gos.pk). The city administration assured continued action to maintain fairness and transparency in the parking system.
