Sindh reduces age limit for obtaining HTV license

Sindh HTV license rules

The Sindh Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) license rules are changing as the provincial cabinet introduces stricter transport regulations, including mandatory training and rapid legal action.

In a cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, it was decided that 30 hours of training are now mandatory for obtaining an HTV license. The minimum age for applying was reduced from 24 to 22 years.

An automatic fine system will be introduced for traffic violations. The Sindh CM said notices will be issued immediately upon violations through a digital mechanism.

To ensure swift justice, special traffic courts will be established across the province to quickly dispose of traffic violation cases, the cabinet confirmed.

In other related developments, the Sindh cabinet traffic law amendments were approved to tighten control on vehicle safety and registration.

Chief Minister Sindh directed ministers to consult all assembly members before enforcing the new traffic laws.

The cabinet imposed a 0.5 percent registration fee and Rs 1,000 annual tax on heavy vehicles under the updated framework.

A fitness certificate will now be mandatory for commercial vehicles, with violators facing a Rs 10,000 fine.

The cabinet also announced a ban on inter-provincial movement of vehicles older than 20 years and inter-district travel for those over 25 years old.

Substandard rickshaws and loader vehicles will be completely banned, and a new licensing system has been introduced for vehicle assembly.
