The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has initiated a campaign to address violations of wage rules by contractors and companies engaged in the authority’s operations in Karachi. Managing Director Nasimuddin Meerani personally visited the Korangi district as part of the first phase of the campaign, overseeing waste management operations.
Taking a proactive approach, Meerani directed officials to issue notices and impose fines on contractors found in violation of rules, including the non-payment of minimum wages to workers and the employment of underage laborers. The SSWMB emphasizes its commitment to ensuring compliance with labor laws and has warned of serious consequences for any infringements.
This campaign reflects the board’s dedication to promoting fair labor practices and upholding the rights of workers engaged in waste management operations across different districts in Karachi. By actively monitoring and addressing violations, the SSWMB aims to create a more equitable and lawful working environment in the waste management sector.
