Rangers deployed for Karachi mayor election to ensure law and order

The Ministry of Interior has approved the deployment of Rangers troops to maintain law and order during the upcoming Karachi mayor and deputy election, as per the request of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The deployment will cover seven districts of the Karachi division.

Initially, the interior ministry had declined the request for Rangers troops, but after considering the tense situation and potential clashes during the election, the approval was granted. The election is scheduled to take place on June 15.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, 366 members of the city council will be allowed to enter the polling station at 9 am, and the doors will be closed at 10:30 am. The results will be announced by the Returning Officer on June 16, and the successful candidates will take oath on June 19.

The deployment of Rangers is a crucial step to ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process for the Karachi mayor and deputy mayor election. It aims to maintain security and prevent any untoward incidents during the voting process.
