The price of gold increased by Rs3,300 per tola as the new year began, breaking the previous high. A single tola (11.6638038 grammes) of 24 karat gold costs Rs187,200 as of the latest rates announced by Al Haj Haroon Rasheed Chand, President of the Sarafa Bazaar Association. The previous price was Rs183,900.
Similarly, 10 grammes of 24 karat gold costing Rs 160,494 increased by Rs 2,829 in price.
10 grammes of 22-karat gold cost Rs147,119, an increase of Rs2,593.
The cost of gold on the world market was $1,824.
In Dubai, the cost-plus price of gold increased by an astounding Rs6,500.
