The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has introduced ‘e-gates’ at Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi airports, revolutionizing immigration processes and enhancing passenger convenience akin to developed countries’ standards.
Implemented in collaboration with a UAE-based company and the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the e-gate facility is now operational at Islamabad International Airport, Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, and Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Airport. This initiative aims to streamline immigration procedures and expedite passenger processing.
Passengers holding e-passports will benefit from the e-gate facility, allowing them to bypass long queues and complete their immigration independently. The FIA spokesperson emphasized that while prioritizing passenger service and queue management, the introduction of e-gates will not compromise the agency’s efforts in combating human trafficking.
The installation of e-gates marks a significant advancement in air travel experience for passengers, eliminating the need for lengthy waits in immigration lines. With the new system, travelers can obtain their boarding passes swiftly by scanning their passports and tickets at the e-gate terminals, streamlining the boarding process.
Utilizing data stored in the passport’s biometric chip, the e-gate system ensures secure and efficient processing, promising a seamless travel experience for passengers at these major airports in Pakistan.
