Covid testing not a requirement for Umrah pilgrims: Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Hajj and Umrah Ministry has announced Umrah visas are only valid for 90 days.

The requirement for a PCR test to identify novel-coronavirus infections has been removed in Saudi Arabia.

Foreign pilgrims who intend to undertake Umrah are no longer required to present a negative PCR test result or quick antigen test result in order to enter the kingdom, according to the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

However, in order to cover the cost of medical care, foreign pilgrims would still require Covid-19 medical insurance if they decide to enter Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

The pilgrims are free to roam about and visit other cities in addition to Makkah and Madinah while they are in the kingdom.

As the number of coronavirus infections declines in the kingdom, the covid-19 restrictions are being gradually eliminated.

On Tuesday, Saudi authorities removed the barriers placed around Kaaba due to coronavirus pandemic.
