CCTV footage aids arrest of motorcycle theft and robbery gang in Karachi

In a significant breakthrough, a gang responsible for a spree of motorcycle thefts and robberies across Karachi has been apprehended with the crucial assistance of CCTV footage. The operation was carried out within the jurisdiction of the Aram Bagh police station on Thursday.

According to a spokesperson from the District South police, three members of this gang had managed to elude law enforcement authorities since the previous week after successfully stealing motorcycles from the bustling MA Jinnah Road area. Utilizing the evidence obtained from CCTV footage, the police orchestrated an operation to locate and apprehend the culprits.

The stolen motorcycles were taken from various parts of the city, with two instances occurring within the jurisdiction of the Nabi Bakhsh police station and the remaining two within the Aram Bagh neighborhood.

Recent reports have highlighted another challenge faced by Karachi: the prevalence of illegal Iranian petrol distribution throughout the city. Certain individuals have established unauthorized petrol distribution networks, frequently selling Iranian gasoline stored in plastic canisters.

This illicit trade not only poses severe threats to public safety but also undermines legitimate businesses and the government’s efforts to regulate the petroleum industry effectively.

Concerned citizens have raised their voices, urging authorities to take immediate action against this hazardous and unlawful fuel trade, emphasizing the need to safeguard public safety and the integrity of the legitimate fuel market.
