Saudi Arabia’s Hajj and Umrah ministry announced on Monday that only fully vaccinated pilgrims with two doses will be allowed to apply for the permit for performing Umrah and prayer at the Grand Mosque in Makkah. Saudi media further reported that the same requirements will apply for the permits to visit the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
The ministry, however, clarified that categories exempted from taking vaccinations, as shown by the Tawakkalna application, will not be affected by the rule.
The ministry has said that applicants may take the second dose of their vaccine 48 hours before the date of the permit to avoid cancellation.
