In a decisive move to tackle the issue of unauthorized cattle markets, Karachi authorities have dismantled 33 illegal markets across the city, ARY News reported on Monday. The operation, overseen by Commissioner Karachi Hasan Naqvi, aimed to enforce regulations and restore order in the affected areas.
Commissioner Naqvi presided over a video-linked meeting to review the progress of the crackdown. Deputy Commissioners from various districts provided updates on the operations, detailing the successful removal of illegal markets. According to their reports, 15 unauthorized markets were dismantled in Malir, three in Korangi, two in Central, 10 in East, and two in Keamari. Additionally, one illegal market was removed in the South District. During these operations, three individuals were arrested in connection with the establishment and operation of these markets.
Commissioner Naqvi, after receiving the briefing, issued directives to take immediate and comprehensive action to remove all illegal cattle markets across Karachi. He emphasized that markets established without administrative permission are illegal and underscored the importance of legal actions against those responsible for setting them up.
“The cattle markets set up without the administration’s permission are illegal,” Naqvi stated, highlighting that legal cases will be filed against those found guilty of establishing and operating these markets. He reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining order and ensuring that all market activities comply with the city’s regulations.
The crackdown on illegal cattle markets is part of a broader effort by Karachi authorities to regulate market activities and prevent unauthorized operations that can lead to health and safety issues, as well as public nuisances. The removal of these markets is expected to streamline the administration of legitimate cattle markets and enhance the overall management of livestock trade in the city.
This operation represents a significant step in Karachi’s ongoing efforts to enforce municipal regulations and improve the quality of life for its residents by addressing illegal activities and ensuring compliance with the law.
