The federal government has officially announced three public holidays for Eidul Adha 2026, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approving the holiday schedule for May 26, 27 and 28.
A formal notification has been issued confirming the holiday schedule, ensuring uniform observance across all government and private offices nationwide.

According to the notification, May 26 has been declared a public holiday to mark the Day of Hajj (Yawm-ul-Arafah, the 9th of Dhul Hijjah), while May 27 and 28 will be observed as the first and second days of Eidul Adha.
The third day of Eid, falling on May 29, will be a normal working day for government and private employees nationwide.
Extended Weekend for Employees
Government and private employees are set to enjoy a lengthy holiday stretch this year. With May 25 falling on a Sunday, followed by a working day on Monday, May 26, three consecutive public holidays from Tuesday to Thursday covering the Day of Hajj and the first two days of Eidul Adha, and then a working day on Friday, May 29, employees will get another two-day weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

The extended holiday period is likely to give families ample time for celebrations, travel and festive gatherings across the country.
Essential service departments, including emergency and utility services, are expected to continue operations during the holiday period as per standard practice.
Eidul Adha is one of the most significant religious festivals in Pakistan, observed to commemorate the spirit of sacrifice.
