The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a heatwave alert for Sindh, warning of unusually high temperatures starting April 11.

According to the advisory, daytime temperatures are expected to rise 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal, while nighttime temperatures may remain 3 to 5 degrees higher than usual.

The NDMA said districts including Dadu, Jacobabad, and Larkana will face intense heat, along with nearby areas, according to official alert.

Other districts such as Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot, Ghotki, and Khairpur are also likely to experience severe weather conditions during the period.

Temperatures are further expected to surge in Sanghar, Umerkot, and Kashmore, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.

The heatwave is not limited to Sindh, as parts of Balochistan including Jhal Magsi, Osta Muhammad, and Dera Murad Jamali will also be affected.

Similarly, southern Punjab districts such as Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan may witness extreme temperatures during this spell.

The NDMA has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and take precautionary measures to prevent heatstroke.

Authorities have urged local administrations to remain alert and ensure preparedness to deal with any emergency situations arising from the heatwave.

This warning comes as Pakistan enters the peak summer season, with rising temperatures posing risks to public health, especially in vulnerable regions.
