The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has issued important information for citizens who want to get a new machine-readable passport in Pakistan or abroad.
Officials said every citizen of Pakistan is entitled to a passport, which ensures international travel rights and diplomatic protection through Pakistan’s embassies and consulates abroad.
A valid Pakistani passport also serves as the only official identity document for citizens living overseas, enabling them to leave and re-enter Pakistan lawfully at any time.
Required Documents for First-Time Applicants
To obtain a passport for the first time, applicants must provide proof of passport fee payment through a bank challan or e-payment receipt containing a valid PSID number.
Applicants must also present their original computerized identity card or NICOPE along with a photocopy. Government, semi-government, or autonomous body employees must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
For dual nationals, a foreign passport and its photocopy are mandatory. Citizens may apply at passport offices within Pakistan or Pakistan’s foreign missions abroad.
