Scam Alert: A new scam is targeting WhatsApp users through Telegram, where fraudsters sell fake invites to the iOS beta program.
This WhatsApp iOS beta scam exploits demand for limited access.
The scammers use manipulated screenshots, recycled news reports, and fake verification badges to appear legitimate.
However, WhatsApp does not charge users for beta access, and official updates remain completely free for all participants.
The WhatsApp iOS beta program operates through Apple’s TestFlight, which allows only 10,000 testers at a time. When enrollment closes, scammers exploit the shortage by selling fraudulent “exclusive” access.

Victims are typically asked to pay between $25 and $50 via PayPal’s “Friends and Family” option. This leaves them without buyer protection once the scammer blocks communication.
Some Telegram channels advertising these fake invites have attracted more than 6,000 subscribers. Their professional appearance misleads users, giving false credibility to the fraudulent offers circulating online.
According to WABetaInfo, reports of such scams surface weekly. Fraudsters often copy WABetaInfo updates, pairing them with edited TestFlight screenshots to lure victims into believing they will receive unreleased WhatsApp features.
This scam highlights the growing risks of digital fraud targeting popular apps.
Experts advise WhatsApp users to remain vigilant, avoid unofficial offers, and verify information through trusted sources before making payments online.
