The Sindh government has taken a significant step to enhance the education sector by creating over 2,500 teaching positions for the fiscal year 2023-24. This announcement was made by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah while presenting the provincial budget, which amounts to Rs2.2 trillion with a development outlay of Rs700.1 billion.
The chief minister emphasized the government’s commitment to improving access to equitable, inclusive, and quality education for all. He stated that a substantial amount of Rs312.245 billion has been allocated for the education sector in the provincial budget.
CM Murad Ali Shah highlighted the recruitment efforts carried out in the current financial year, where approximately 58,000 primary and middle school teachers (PSTs & JSTs) were hired. These teachers underwent pre-posting training and were assigned to schools based on the prescribed Student-Teacher ratio policy.
Building on this momentum, the chief minister announced the creation of an additional 2,582 teaching positions for the fiscal year 2023-24. This move aims to further strengthen the education sector in Sindh and improve the quality of education provided to students.
In addition to teacher recruitment, the Sindh government has allocated Rs2.53 billion for the distribution of free textbooks across the province. This initiative ensures that students have access to essential learning materials without financial constraints.
Furthermore, Rs1.553 billion has been earmarked to support the operation of Non-Formal Education centers. These centers play a crucial role in addressing the issue of out-of-school children, providing them with opportunities to gain knowledge and skills.
The allocation of funds and the creation of teaching positions reflect the Sindh government’s commitment to promoting education and investing in the future of its youth. These initiatives are expected to contribute to the overall improvement of the education sector in the province, creating a more inclusive and progressive learning environment for students.
