The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced that the auction for the two new HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises will take place on 6 January 2026, marking a significant step in the league’s expansion plans.

With the addition of two new teams, the PSL will grow to eight franchises from its 11th edition, offering greater opportunities for commercial growth, sporting excellence, player development, and fan engagement across Pakistan.

The shortlisted cities for franchise allocation include Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit.

Only technically qualified bidders will be invited to participate in the auction, and successful bidders will have the right to choose their preferred city and team name from the approved list.

The PCB emphasized that team names will be finalised only after the auction, in accordance with the official bid documents.

This announcement comes in response to media reports claiming the new franchise names had already been decided.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also revealed a substantial prize pool for the upcoming PSL 11 edition.

Taking to social media platform X, Naqvi said the winning franchise will receive $500,000, the runner-up will get $300,000, and the franchise recognised for its contribution to cricket development will earn $200,000.

“Let’s take Pakistan cricket to new heights!” Naqvi added, expressing his excitement over the move.

The PCB confirmed that technical proposals from interested parties must be submitted by 15 December 2025 at 11:00 AM.

Officials expressed confidence that the inclusion of new franchises and stakeholders will further elevate the league’s impact on Pakistan cricket and continue to strengthen the PSL’s position as one of the world’s leading T20 leagues.
