Just days ahead of their opening match in the Asia Cup 2025, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha gave fans and teammates a scare after sitting out most of the team’s training session in Dubai.
Although he traveled with the squad to the venue, he largely stayed away from physical drills and was seen with a bandage around his neck, moving carefully and avoiding warm-ups and light football exercises with his teammates, which raises serious concern related to his fitness.
The Pakistan Cricket media manager exclusively told Times of Karachi that the issue was only a “mild spasm” and that resting the captain was a precautionary measure there is nothing serious.
“There’s nothing major to worry about,” the official said, noting that Salman had completed all pre-tournament engagements without issue and is expected to be declared fit shortly.

Team management remains optimistic that Pakistan’s captain will recover in time for both fixtures.

Despite his absence from training raising a few concerns, the overall mood in the camp stayed upbeat, with the rest of the squad going through regular routines and lighter drills.
For now, Pakistan fans will be hoping that a day of rest is all their captain needs to return fully fit – especially with the much-anticipated showdown against India looming on the horizon.
