The Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) of Punjab has issued a high-priority security advisory urging Apple users and administrators to immediately install security updates.

The warning applies to government organizations and the general public, highlighting critical vulnerabilities across Apple devices and operating systems. Officials stressed that failing to update may expose systems to cyberattacks.

According to the advisory, unpatched vulnerabilities could lead to severe outcomes. These include remote code execution, device takeover, information disclosure, and bypassing of essential security features.

Apple addressed several flaws in the latest updates. These include CVE-2025-31229, a logic issue now fixed with improved checks. Additionally, CVE-2025-43222, a use-after-free vulnerability, is resolved by removing risky code.

Another, CVE-2025-43217, affected the visibility of privacy indicators for microphone and camera access. Additionally, CVE-2025-43186 caused unexpected application termination due to file parsing issues.

The updates cover multiple platforms and devices, including iOS 18.6, iPadOS 18.6, MacOS Sequoia 15.6, MacOS Sonoma 14.7.7, MacOS Ventura 13.7.7, WatchOS 11.6, TvOS 18.6, VisionOS 2.6, iPad 17.79, and Safari 18.6.

Punjab CERT labeled the severity of the threat as “major,” emphasizing that delayed updates could expose users to significant risks.

The potential impact involves high chances of compromise, unauthorized device access, and leakage of sensitive personal or organizational data. In extreme cases, attackers may gain complete control of affected devices. This poses a critical threat to both personal and national digital infrastructure.

Punjab CERT urged all users and system administrators to take immediate action by installing the recommended updates. The advisory also provides resources and further guidance through the official Punjab CERT website. For direct assistance, users can contact soc@punjab.gov.pk.
