Imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan’s sons, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, met with US President Donald Trump’s aide Richard Grenell in California to launch a campaign calling for their father’s release.
Imran has been jailed since August 2023 in a £190 million corruption case. He also faces pending trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act related to the protest of May 9, 2023.
Grenell, who has publicly supported Imran, shared the meeting on social media and urged the brothers to “stay strong.” He added that millions worldwide oppose to launch political prosecutions and that they are not alone.
Sulaiman and Kasim also met with Dr Asif Mehmood, a Pakistani-American physician and vice chairman of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).
"Immense pride for @Kasim_Khan_1999 and Sulaiman Khan for their bravery in fighting for their father, Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s freedom, who has been unjustly imprisoned by the Pakistani military!

Huge thanks to my friend Amb. @RichardGrenell for standing for justice… pic.twitter.com/8s2mHUqbrn
Dr. Mahmood praised their courage and thanked Grenell for standing for justice and principle. He called for unity in the push to free Imran Khan.
Earlier this month, Imran’s sister Aleema Khan said the two brothers would first highlight their father’s case in the United States before visiting Pakistan to join campaign for his release.
Welcome to California, my friends.

I loved hanging out with you today.
Sulaiman and @Kasim_Khan_1999, you must stay strong.
There are millions of people around the world who are sick of political prosecutions.
You are not alone. #freeimrankhan pic.twitter.com/TOAOjrEiM1
The government has not officially commented on their activities.
However, Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik stated that under Article 16 of the constitution, only citizens have the right to assemble.
He said the brothers, as British nationals, are not allowed to take part in political activity and may face visa cancellation if they violate terms.
PML-N leaders gave mixed statements on whether the two would be allowed to enter Pakistan.
Senator Irfan Siddiqui said they should be permitted to visit and “carry out their activities” as long as they remain within legal boundaries.
