Court blocks 27 YouTube channels in Pakistan

YouTube channels banned

Islamabad court has directed the relevant authorities to block 27 YouTube channels in Pakistan for spreading anti-state content.

Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah issued the order on the request of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), which initiated an inquiry into the matter on June 2.

According to the court, the FIA had presented evidence indicating that the content shared on these YouTube channels was against the interests of the state.

After reviewing the material, the court ruled that if the FIA is satisfied with the evidence, it has the authority to proceed in accordance with the law.

The court has now instructed the officer-in-charge of YouTube operations to ensure the immediate blocking of all 27 identified channels.

This action comes amid increasing efforts by authorities to regulate online content and tackle misinformation and material considered harmful to national interests.
