Karachi crime statistics 2025

Karachi has recorded around 26,500 crime incidents in the past five months, sparking serious concerns over public safety, according to data released by the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC).

According to the CPLC, a total of 245 people lost their lives, including 48 killed during robbery resistance between January till May 2025.

The city also saw over 17,994 incidents of motorcycle theft and snatching, and 684 cases of car and vehicle snatching or theft.

Mobile phone snatching remains a top issue, with more than 6,489 cases reported in the same period.

The CPLC also recorded 11 kidnappings for ransom and 32 extortion cases, indicating a steady presence of organized criminal activity.

In a related development, the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and CPLC successfully rescued a kidnapping victim, Nasir Hussain, abducted on October 5 from Sector 5-D in Bilal Colony.

The kidnappers demanded Rs 1 million ransom from his family. The Bilal Colony Police registered a case and handed the probe to AVCC.

Following technical surveillance, the team located the site and safely recovered the victim, although the kidnappers managed to flee.
