The Qayyumabad flyover has been reopened for traffic after the completion of extensive repair work that kept the bridge closed for one month.
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) confirmed that all three ramps, slabs, and expansion joints of the flyover have been repaired and resurfaced, making the route safe for regular use again.
KMC authorities stated that the flyover has been fully carpeted and will soon have new lane markings painted to improve road discipline and guide motorists clearly through the stretch.
The flyover serves as a major connector, facilitating daily traffic flow from Qayyumabad to Korangi and the Defense Housing Authority (DHA).

The repair work cost approximately Rs 25 million, covering structural reinforcement, road carpeting, and sealing of expansion joints to enhance the flyover’s durability and performance during the monsoon season.
It is worth mentioning here that the KPT bridge was closed for traffic last month, causing serious disruptions for commuters.
Officials said that the flyover had developed several cracks and uneven surfaces, which could have endangered traffic safety. Timely repairs have helped prevent possible accidents or structural failure.
The road had seen increased traffic pressure in recent years due to growing commercial and residential activity in the Korangi and DHA neighborhoods.
With the Qayyumabad flyover now operational, traffic congestion in the area is expected to ease, offering relief to daily commuters who had faced significant detours during the closure.
