Pakistan’s Bano Kausar Butt won a gold medal after defeating India’s Richa Sharma in the 48 kg women’s contact jujitsu final at the Asian Jujitsu Championship 2025 in Jordan.
The victory gave Pakistan a proud moment and sent a powerful message in the region.
Earlier in the tournament, M Ali Rashid and M Yousuf Ali won bronze medals in the dove men’s category, while Isra Wasim and Kainat Arif earned bronze medals in the dove women’s category, giving Pakistan a strong start.
Chairman of the Pakistan Jujitsu Federation, Khalil Ahmed Khan, praised the team’s performance. “These medals prove our athletes can compete globally. Credit goes to the coaches, players, and support staff,” he said.
At the closing ceremony, Tariq Ali, Secretary General of the South Asian Regional Jujitsu Association, said, “Our women and young athletes showed great passion. This is a proud moment and a step forward for jujitsu in Pakistan.”
The championship continues until May 26, with top fighters from across Asia competing. Pakistan is aiming for more medals in the final rounds.
