Sindh’s Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has extended the deadline to replace old vehicle registration books across the province.
The Provincial Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla announced that citizens now have until May 15, 2025, to switch to new smart registration cards.
A notification has been issued by the department confirming the extension, giving vehicle owners more time to comply with the updated system.
Earlier, the deadline for replacing the traditional registration book with smart cards was April 3, 2025.
The new smart cards are embedded with advanced security features to reduce tampering and make vehicle verification easier and faster.
Officials said this initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize the vehicle registration system across Sindh.
The Excise Department urged citizens not to delay further and to take advantage of the extended deadline to avoid penalties later.
Citizens can visit their nearest Excise office with their original documents, CNIC, and old registration book to apply for the new card.
Minister Chawla encouraged citizens to act swiftly and not wait until the last minute to avoid overcrowding and processing delays.
Earlier this year, the Sindh Assembly passed an amendment bill, making it mandatory for all new cars to be registered within two months.
Sindh Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, stated that under the new law, car owners must register their vehicles within two months of purchase.
Additionally, owners will be required to obtain new digital cards and submit their old car books to the relevant department.
