The Karachi administration’s crackdown against profiteers during Ramadan continued, with 144 vendors penalized on the fourth day of the campaign.
According to a statement from the Commissioner House Karachi, authorities imposed fines totaling Rs 2.716 million and arrested four profiteers, while sealing five shops in the metropolis.
Over the first four days of the campaign, officials have fined vendors a total of Rs 12.756 million, arrested 64 individuals, and sealed 47 shops.
District-wise, fines included Rs 500,000 in South, Rs 184,000 in East, Rs 35,000 in West, Rs 153,000 in Central, Rs 31,000 in Malir, Rs 68,000 in Korangi, and Rs 50,000 in Keamari.
Commissioner Karachi has instructed all Deputy Commissioners to ensure essential food items are sold at official prices, warning of strict action against violators.
