Pakistan is set to host the World Emerging Individual Squash Championship in April 2025, with top male and female players from 16 leading countries expected to compete in Karachi.
The event, scheduled to begin on April 8, 2025 in Karachi, will feature players aged 19 to 23, competing for individual titles in both men’s and women’s categories.
The World Squash Federation (WSF) recently awarded Pakistan the hosting rights during its Congress meeting, where it was decided to revive the Championship after a 20-year hiatus.
The event aims to bridge the gap between junior and senior circuits, providing new entrants to the senior circuit an opportunity to compete.
The championship, which was regularly held until two decades ago, will now be staged in Karachi. Each of the top 16 squash-playing nations will send two players, with Pakistan likely to field players such as Noor Zaman, Ashab Irfan, or Hamza Khan, depending on international commitments.
An exciting aspect of the championship will be the participation of Indian players, with early indications suggesting that India may send players to compete, unlike in cricket.
