Court fined SBCA seek response in two days on Karachi’s illegal constructions

The Sindh High Court has ordered the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to respond within two days to a petition concerning illegal constructions in Karachi’s Nazimabad area.

The court expressed dissatisfaction with SBCA officials for failing to submit a response despite a year-long delay and a one-week deadline.

Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput criticized the SBCA for not acting sooner, stating that if the building had been constructed, the authorities would have acknowledged its illegality and issued eviction notices.

He warned that further delays would result in a daily fine of Rs 25,000.

The SBCA requested two additional days to provide their response, which was granted, with a new deadline set for November 18.

The court also imposed Rs 50,000 fine on the SBCA for their delay.
