Sindh Human Rights Commission released the report from January 2021 to June 2022. According to the report, 248 complaints of violence against women were received in Sindh over one and a half years.
According to the report, 22 complaints of gang rape or abuse of women were reported, while 16 cases of murder, 5 cases of rape and 7 cases of disappearance were reported.
During the ceremony held at a local hotel in Hyderabad, the Chairperson of the Commission, Justice Retired Majda Rizvi, along with the Chief Guest, Justice Sindh High Court, Justice Nadeem Akhtar, unveiled the annual report for the years 2021 and 2022.
According to the annual report, the commission redressed 738 complaints from January 2021 to June 2022.
30% of cases of human rights violations were reported in Karachi, 221 cases of human rights violations were reported in Karachi, 49 from Hyderabad and 46 from Sukkur.
During one and a half year, 248 complaints related to violence against women were received, 22 complaints of gang rape or abuse of women were reported while 17 complaints of harassment of women and 11 complaints of kidnapping were received by the commission.
According to the report, 16 complaints of the murder of women, 5 complaints of rape and 7 complaints of disappearance were registered in the report commission, while 21 cases of domestic violence were reported, which is 19% more than last year.
According to the report, 447 complaints were received against the Sindh Police, while the commission also received complaints against Pakistan Baitul-Mal, Zakat and Usher Department, K Electric, HESCO and other government departments.
