Sindh introduces e-Pay system for streamlined payment of traffic challans, taxes, and levies

In a significant move towards digitalization and efficiency, the Sindh Cabinet has given its approval for the implementation of an e-Pay system, allowing residents to conveniently deposit traffic challans, property taxes, Sindh Revenue Board levies, and professional taxes across the province. The decision, modeled on Punjab’s successful e-Pay collection system, aims to enhance ease of financial transactions and promote a more streamlined approach to revenue collection.

The Sindh Cabinet formalized its approval through a circulation summary, endorsing the agreement with the Punjab Information Technology Board. A formal notification has been issued to signify this landmark decision, indicating the provincial government’s commitment to adopting modern technological solutions for financial transactions.

Under this agreement, the Punjab Information Technology Board will spearhead the development of an e-pay system tailored for Sindh. The comprehensive system will serve as a centralized platform for collecting all taxes, challans, and fees in the province, simplifying the payment process for residents. Additionally, taxes related to the sale and purchase of lands, managed by the Board of Revenue, will also be seamlessly integrated into the e-pay system.

This initiative aligns with the broader national and global trend towards digitization and electronic payment systems, ensuring greater transparency, efficiency, and accessibility for citizens. The move is expected to facilitate a more robust financial infrastructure, reducing administrative burdens and enhancing the overall experience of taxpayers in Sindh.

The introduction of the e-Pay system reflects a forward-looking approach by the Sindh government, fostering an environment conducive to digital financial transactions and contributing to the broader goal of creating a more technologically advanced and citizen-friendly governance framework.
