Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif, in conjunction with Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, officially launched the 100 MW Polan-Gabd electricity transmission line project, connecting Iran to Gwadar, at the Mand-Pishin crossing point of the Pakistan-Iran border on Thursday.
During the ceremony, the two leaders also inaugurated the sustenance marketplace located at the Mand-Pishin crossing point.
The Polan-Gabd Electricity Transmission Line is a crucial initiative in addressing the energy requirements of the region, benefiting both households and businesses by importing an additional 100 MW of electricity from Iran.
This joint inauguration serves as a testament to the strong commitment of both Pakistan and Iran to enhance the well-being of residents in the neighboring provinces of Balochistan and Sistan-o-Baluchestan, respectively. It marks a significant milestone in the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
In his address, Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi expressed his satisfaction with the strengthening bilateral ties between Iran and Pakistan. He extended his congratulations to the people of both nations on the inauguration of these landmark projects.
Highlighting the potential of collaboration in the energy sector, President Raisi stated that Iran is prepared to work with Pakistan. He emphasized that the border markets established between the two countries will contribute to increasing bilateral trade.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to the Iranian president and regarded the inauguration of these border projects as the dawn of a new era in Islamabad-Tehran relations.
PM Sharif affirmed that both countries are committed to inaugurating six more border markets. Additionally, he extended an invitation to Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi to visit Pakistan, further strengthening the ties between the two nations.
The joint efforts of Pakistan and Iran in the field of energy and trade hold great promise for fostering mutual prosperity and advancing regional development.
