Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PTCB) seized the Social Studies book of grade 7 on Monday for printing Malala Yousafzai’s picture, the book has been published by Oxford University Press (OUP).
Malala’s picture is printed on page 33 of the book alongside the hero of 1965 war hero Maj Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, the page also carries the pictures of some of the prominent figures of Pakistan which included Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, National Poet Allama Iqbal, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Liaquat Ali Khan and others.
The raids are being conducted by PTCB officials along with Police on shops and educational institutions which have received the copies of the book. The raid has also been conducted on OUP office in Mini Market, Gulberg and seized the copies.
A No-Objection Certificate (NOC) has also been handed over to the press.
Last year the PTCB also banned some books which it considered were against the integrity of Pakistan or its two nations theory and unethical.
