Caretaker Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Aneeq Ahmed has announced the results of the balloting for the upcoming Hajj, revealing that out of 69,438 applications received under the Regular Hajj Scheme, 63,805 were successful. The minister highlighted the success in reducing the Hajj package cost by Rs 100,000 through dedicated efforts.
A waiting list of 5,633 unsuccessful applicants has been prepared based on their cities of departure, with the possibility of selection if intending pilgrims from that city withdraw their applications. Notifications of the results will be communicated to all applicants via mobile SMS, the official website, or the mobile app.
Minister Aneeq Ahmed noted that the Sponsorship Scheme will continue until Sunday, ensuring ongoing facilitation for Hajj applicants. In a significant development, the minister highlighted that Pakistan is facilitating the short Hajj for the first time.
Among the applicants, 56 percent are women and 44 percent are men. To enhance the pilgrims’ experience, each participant will be provided with a suitcase featuring a QR code to prevent loss, and a data bundle of 7 GBs will be allocated to each pilgrim. These measures aim to streamline the Hajj process and enhance the overall experience for Pakistani pilgrims.
