In the first 11 months of 2022, at least 57 Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) planes were hit by birds.
So far, the PIA has issued a report on aircraft hit by birds in 2022.
According to the report, 53 bird-hit incidents were reported from January to October, with four incidents occurring in November. The vast majority of the incidents occurred at Lahore International Airport.
According to the report, five of the 57 PIA planes were damaged by bird collisions in 2022, while the planes were unharmed in 59 incidents.
Furthermore, the birds hit 21 PIA planes while landing, 12 during approach, and eight during take-off.
The PIA has lost millions of dollars as a result of the incidents.
Separately, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Sukkur to Islamabad made an emergency landing at Islamabad International Airport after one of its engines caught fire.
According to a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesperson, the PIA ATR flight, which had 54 passengers on board, was en route from Sukkur to Islamabad when the pilot was alerted by a fire signal in one of its engines.
At a distance of 2 nautical miles from the airport, the pilot issued a mayday call. The pilot gave a mayday call at a distance of 2 nautical miles from the airport. The pilot of the plane successfully landed the flight at the 2241 runway.
