The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is set to establish Pakistan’s first-ever government-level Senior Citizen Club to cater to the welfare of elderly citizens.
The initiative is part of the provincial government’s ongoing efforts to improve the well-being of senior citizens.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur announced that the club would be launched in Peshawar, with a feasibility report and the project’s PC-1 currently in the final stages of preparation.
The club will provide a variety of services to people above the age of 58, including free medical aid.
In addition to healthcare, the club will offer residential rooms, food, indoor games, a gym, a salon, and other amenities. The initiative aims to offer a supportive environment for senior citizens.
Once the Peshawar branch proves successful, the government plans to expand the Senior Citizens Club to other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This project builds on the 2014 Senior Citizens Act, which introduced several welfare measures for elderly people in the province.
