The factories producing substandard soap have been sealed as the administration initiated a crackdown against such factories located in Karachi’s Korangi district area.
Deputy Commissioner Korangi, Masood Bhutto, submitted a report detailing the operations, which revealed that animal skin, fat, and intestines were being used in soap production, resulting in products with foul odors and environmental pollution.
During the crackdown, four such factories have been sealed and 12 individuals have been arrested for manufacturing soap using harmful animal fat and residues.
The arrested individuals have been handed over to the police.
Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi stressed the need to continue the crackdown, instructing other Deputy Commissioners to target similar factories across the city.
