The provincial government has imposed ‘green lockdown’ in different areas of Lahore to combat increasing level of smog and air pollution in the city.
As per the issued notification, the green lockdown will be imposed in different areas of Lahore including Davis Road, Kashmir Road, Egerton Road, Durand Road, Abbott Road (Shimla Pahari to Gulistan Cinema), Empress Road (Shimla Pahari to Railway Headquarters), Queen Road and Allama Iqbal Road.
The restrictions ban construction work, chingchi rickshaws, and the use of commercial generators in the designated green zones.
Additionally, the restaurants and barbecue services must close by 8 pm, while marquees and wedding halls will shut by 10 pm.
Furthermore, sweeping without prior sprinkling of water in the area is also prohibited to control dust emissions.
According to the notification, the green lockdown is set to remain in effect until November 4.
The government aims to significantly reduce pollutants in these high-traffic zones and mitigate smog’s impact on public health as winter approaches.
