A young girl, 3-year-old Sania Dakhtar Muzmal Jinnah, who sustained serious injuries from a stray bullet during New Year’s celebrations in Korangi, has tragically lost her life. The incident occurred past midnight on New Year’s Eve when a bullet from an unknown direction struck the girl inside her house in the Korangi area of Korangi district.
Sania, who was sleeping in a swing, was left alone momentarily by her mother, who had gone to the kitchen to get milk. Upon returning, the mother found the girl in distress and bleeding from her head. Sania was immediately taken to Korangi No. 5 Hospital and later shifted to Jinnah Hospital after initial treatment.
Doctors conducted a CT scan, revealing a bullet lodged in Sania’s head, penetrating her brain. The medical team indicated that surgery would be performed once the girl regained consciousness. Unfortunately, Sania could not overcome her injuries, leading to her untimely demise.
Upon the arrival of Sania’s body at home, grief and sorrow engulfed the family, as she was the only child of the bereaved parents. The incident has sparked anger among relatives and local residents who gathered at the scene.
Family members, in their statements to the media, urged the government to take concrete actions to prevent stray bullets during New Year’s celebrations. They expressed deep sadness over the loss of their daughter and called for practical measures to ensure the safety of citizens from such incidents. The tragic incident highlights the dangers associated with celebratory gunfire and the need for effective preventive measures.
