Following damage caused by the recent floods and severe rain, three major roads linking Balochistan to the rest of Pakistan have been shut down.
Thousands of travellers were reportedly left trapped close to fort “Manro” in Dera Ghazi Khan, which connects Punjab with Balochistan, while Balochistan remained cut off from the rest of the nation.
Landslides at Dhana Sar Town, Balochistan, obstructed National Highway 50 (DI Khan-Kuchlak, Quetta). Additionally, severe floods in the Balochistan district of Musa Khail destroyed the roadways, halting transportation.
In contrast, the Drazanda, Sherani district mountains’ soil and land degradation have hindered the network of roads that connect Balochistan with KP.
After being damaged during the storms and floods, the National Highway (N-25), popularly known as the RCD Highway, which connects Karachi to Quetta, has remained in place.
On the other side, 207 people have already died as a result of the flooding and heavy rains in Balochistan, according to a statement released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
Balochistan had flooding and rain that resulted in the deaths of 98 men, 48 women, and 61 children in all. Six hundred and ninety kilometres of roads and 18 bridges have all been destroyed by the rain. Authorities from the PDMA and rescue organisations are working in flood-affected regions.
