The Sindh government has signed an agreement with a private company for a project that aims to generate power from waste.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held in Karachi, with the Provincial Minister for Energy Imtiaz Shaikh, Administrator Karachi Murtaza Wahab and others in attendance.
Addressing the event, Imtiaz Shaikh said that under the project, Karachi will generate electricity from waste and that Sindh is the first province in Pakistan to think of generating electricity from waste. He said that the project will not only solve the province’s waste problem but also create jobs, leading to the province’s economic development.
On the occasion, Administrator Karachi Murtaza Wahab appreciated the efforts of the Energy Department and said that the performance of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board has improved a lot.
