In a bid to enhance educational facilities and improve the quality of education in Sindh, the provincial government has decided to transfer the management of 100 schools to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), as per a report by ARY News.
Sources within the Sindh education ministry revealed that the decision, spearheaded by the caretaker minister, entails the handover of 60 schools in Karachi and 40 in other parts of the province. These schools, currently in a state of disrepair, will be entrusted to some of the city’s prominent NGOs for efficient management and operation.
The move is part of the government’s efforts to uplift the educational standards across the region, aiming to provide better facilities and resources for students in these schools.
Previously, the Sindh government’s Education Department collaborated with 20 well-established NGOs to oversee the management of 34 newly established schools. These schools, operating under the People’s School Programme, offer free education up to Class 10th in English medium. They are strategically located in 19 districts across the province, including Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, and Karachi, among others.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and ensuring that students across Sindh receive the necessary resources to excel academically.
