BSEK Chairman Urges Imposition of Section 144 around Exam Centres

The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) Chairman Syed Sharaf Ali Shah has urged concerned authorities to impose Section 144 of the criminal procedure code around examination centres during the matric exams. Shah made this announcement during a press conference while addressing the upcoming Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Part-I and II exams, which are scheduled to begin on May 8.

Shah expressed that the board was requested to outsource the papers, but it is not possible for the body to do so. He requested K-Electric to ensure an uninterrupted electric supply in the metropolis during the examinations.

The BSEK chairman mentioned that the science group exams will take place in the morning, while general exams will be held in the evening. He further stated that over 0.39 million candidates will appear in the examinations this year and that 524 examination centres have been established to facilitate the candidates. Out of the total centres, 245 are set up for female candidates.

Ninety-seven vigilance teams have been formed to monitor and visit the centres during examinations, ensuring transparency. Shah also mentioned that 19 hubs have been formed in different areas to transport examination papers to the centres across the metropolis.

Shah stated that 79 prisoners will appear in the examinations from jail. “The exams will be held under strict vigilance to maintain the standard and transparency of the examination process,” he said.
