Sindh does not issue yellow numberplates any more

The Sindh government has discontinued the issuance of yellow licence plates for car registration.

According to Zia Shah, Deputy Director Admin Sindh Excise and Taxes Department, the issuing of yellow number plates has been discontinued, and new number plates with security features are being provided to vehicle owners.

The stock of yellow number plates has been relocated to the department’s godown, and about 250,000 new number plates have been issued to vehicle owners, according to Shah.

He requested that citizens receive their new licence plates within three days because there is no delay in the procedure.

The people wanting to replace their yellow number plates with new ones can also get them within three days.

It may be noted that in 2020, the Sindh government started issuing retro-reflective number plates for vehicles.

The development followed the Sindh cabinet’s approval for the introduction of advanced number plates of motor vehicles with security features.
