Prices of food commodities have skyrocketed in Karachi as Eid-ul-Azah approaches.
As reported by ARY News, the prices of vegetables have particularly witnessed an increase of Rs50 in the markets.
The price of tomatoes in the wholesale market is between Rs 100 and Rs 120, spinach at Rs 80 and cucumber at Rs 80.
Local vendors have claimed that the prices in the wholesale market have increased which has forced them to sell these items at higher prices.
Meanwhile, prices of sugar and wheat in the market have also risen.
Citizens have complained about the increase in rates of seasonal fruits being sold by street hawkers.
Based on the report by the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), there had been an increase of 2.29 percent in the weekly inflation for the week which ended on July 2.
